Testing Facility |
KASKAL Facade Testing Facility is pliable to any type and shape of test sample. The main steel structure is designed to take a maximum air pressure of 10 kPa in any direction. Two adjacent rigs with a width of 8 meters and 16 meters respectively are able to accommodate test specimens up to 23 meters high. Another closed chamber is available for tests based on the SIROWET method of testing building facades wherein air pressure is applied on the exterior face of the test specimen. The chamber is 8 meters by 10 meters in plan and 15 meters high. The chambers are provided with electric overhead traveling cranes which can be used for lifting during the preparation and installation of the test mock up. An 8-meter long electrically powered suspended plat form is also provided for construction or inspection works at the exterior side of the test specimen. A fully computerized system for instrument control, data acquisition, test automation and test result analysis is made possible using “LabVIEW” computer software and hardware by National Instruments. Air infiltration test, water penetration test and structural test, either by static or cyclic air pressure, can be conducted on fully automatic mode through each test with all necessary parameters input in advance of the test. Moreover, the control system is equipped with manual override for other tests where manual operation of the system is practicable. |
